This is my current setup for 3.6 inch Freestyle. I’ve done extensive testing of different motor sizes, 4S and 6S and this frame with this setup just works.Â
Note: You will see images on my site with 2005 motors instead which is what I am using when carrying a Hero Session. However the best motor is what I recommend here – 2004.
The best frame by far for 3.6 inch scratch builds. 25mm internal frame height and plenty of room behind the camera, make this frame easy to fit out no matter what FC / VTX you are using. While you can swing 3.6 inch props on some 3.5 inch frames, this frame is much stronger and specifically designed for 3.6 inch.
Stack Options
My first choice – 40 Amps ESC. Plugs are for wimps – get your solder out and start soldering (DJI 03 plug n play though). Also has 10V BEC so you can power a digital VTX from regulated voltage instead of from Vbatt. XT60 lead included.
Plug n play all the way. 10 Amp BEC if you need it for non 03 setups. XT60 lead included.
Plug n play or solder with 9Amp BEC. Bluetooth is a nice touch. You can never go wrong with a Speedybee Mini. XT30 lead included so you will need to buy an XT60 one.
AIO Options
25.5×25.5 suare on mount in this frame so you will need to rotate orientation 45 degrees in Betaflight. DJI 03 plug n play and 9V BEC @ 3Amps for other HD VTX systems. It also has bluetooth.

For analog you’ll looking at a 20x20mm mount VTX. 800mw and above will give good penetration for freestyle.Â
RHCP is most common for analog but check your goggles antennas to make sure
For a 19mm camera, the Runcam Phoenix is the best on the market for image quality.
